Start By Giving

June 18, 2010 at 9:26 am (Uncategorized)

Open hand is both a giving hand and a receiving hand.

Giving goes beyond financial support.  Working under someone that can teach based on their experience and their qualification is priceless.

m2m damoreJon has had the privilege of servicing some of the brightess in the industry.  This past year has been extremely amazing for us.  We have worked on publications such  Italian Vogue, Korean Vogue, Japan Vogue, V Magazine, Clam Magazine to name a few.

The most fulfilling part of our every day job is working with amazing people.  Mary J Blige, Catherine Malandrino, Carmen Dell, Jessica Gomez are the more recent celebs to our list of greats.

But honestly the most rewarding work we have done have been the amazing charities we recently support because on those days we participated every artist there were volunteers.  No pay, no glory, purely out of love for our fellow man.. That is were we met the most appreciative people.

American Cancer Society, Beauty for the love of Haiti, Carma Gives Back, Fawn (Mary J Blige/Steve Stout) are some of the amazing evemts we worked on.

Building of a Brand-living a Dream

March 28, 2010 at 8:10 pm (1, Beauty, Fashion, Spas, Travel, Fashion, Beauty, Gift and Spas)

For some dream is useless, it is a distraction from reality.  For others it is a reason for living.  For me it proves to be the latter.  I have for so long worked hard to reach everything I ever wanted.  Not one thing was an inheritance from a wealthy parent, uncle, cousin or good Samaritan.  From a very young age I was taught to go to school, pay attention in class, do all your work, excel in all your subjects , go to college, get a good job work really hard and you will be recognized for your achievements and success would be yours.  That was some 36 years ago.  Nowadays, it is not the same lecture, school, education yet it may be encouraged, but not to the same degree that it once was.

Fame, fortune are not gained by hard work and good old fashion inheritance.  But for some being at the right time, saying the right thing, or doing what the moment calls for. What some are working hard to gain is not what our grandparents once worked for.  The energy is different.  The desires, the motives, the morals have changed.  So how does one compete in this world.  What once was is no more, but the bottom line is what is comfortable for each one of us must be the thing that keeps us focused.

Whatever choice of morals, guidelines, work ethics, life standards one chooses note that

there are consequences that one must live with and the burden is yours and yours alone.  While it affects those around you, often times your walk is usually a lonely one.  Whether your at the top or the bottom.

I am a manicurist by trade, a business woman because I work for myself,  I have managed to make a living for the past 18 years by working fashion shows, editorial, magazines, commercials, now after being exposed to the most amazing people in the industry I have taken the next step, the ultimate step of owning my own nail polish brand.  I take pride in it for all the above reasons.  I alone worked hard for it, build my relationships, placed myself in the right opportunities, and strategically allianed forces with the right people to create a product that will someday become a brand.

I am blessed to see what I don’t have but what I have, what I have been able to accomplish in my short period of time in this life with my career choice.  I cherish every moment of it.

Building a Brand A Job or a Career

March 22, 2010 at 7:31 pm (Beauty, Fashion, Spas, Travel, Fashion, Beauty, Gift and Spas)

Making of brand is no where near what people think it is or should be. I love it when people think they can operate a “Business” in the same fashion they “collect a check”. Entrepeneurs operate different then employees. We don’t collection checks we develop contacts. Immediate cash is not our motivating force, passion for our choice of career and path in which we choose to walk in is our motivating force.

We don’t look for “fast cash”, we are building empires so that our intimate circles “EAT” not only now but for the future. Chris Rock said it nicely, people with jobs clock in for a paycheck am to pm. Entrepeneurs don’t have enough time of the day. We also realize that not everyone that come to us is genuine.

Beauty With A Purpose

March 7, 2010 at 12:38 am (1) (, , , , , , , , , )

Another season of Fashion Week has just passed in New York City. The only thing is there is something in the air that is different. Theres a change in the energy. shifting of the guards, why the change? I can only suspect it is because of the horrors of what had just transpired in the weeks prior in Haiti. The devastating earthquake that took the lives of some many innocent people one late afternoon. It showed no mercy to those young, old, poor or rich. It’s rage had been brewing for years, centuries, but to those innocent they knew nothing of the rage that came to claimed their lives.
But like the people before them that survived the horrors and lived in conditions none would ever imagine, their cries did not go on deaf ears. The world became its soldier, “Soldier of Love” and protected its weak. The Fashion Industry was also part of that band of brothers. This past season, designers from all over the world put their resources, monies, energies together to support Haiti.
No one was better, no one did more, no one did less. Everyone came as one for the perfect cause, to help those in need.

It is with this love I share an amazing season of New York Fashion Week with you all. m2m damoreJon team dedicated their season to Haiti. QVC, and the fashion crew designed a T Shirt that would not only help Haiti, but keep awareness of the rebuilding of Haiti.
From the Guru’s of Naomi Campbell, Kim Kardashian, Carmindy, Lois Samuels,  Vera Wang, Luca Luca, Port 1961, Donna Karen to name a few it only got better.
While those weeped for the loses of a nation, the fashion industry weeped for the lose of one of it’s own

Alexander McQueen. McQueen dared to cross lines that only an artist would understand. He was the Royalty and dressed royalty like no other. But his death was not in vain as his legacy will forever live on for generations.
Viva Haiti and McQueen we honor you both.

Terrence Terry the MAN behind the Art

“Your look is not complete without a manicure!”  Is the statement this professional lives by, so if you think hair, makeup, and designers clothes and shoes complete your image not by Terry.  When you look at his portfolio of celebrities he has been honored to work on you can’t help but accept the fact that he may be right.

His resume if you have time to read it in just one sitting goes a little something like this: Mo’Nique, June Ambrose, Eva Marcille Pigford, Keiysha Cole, Keri Hilson, Jeniffer Hudson, Vivica Fox, Tasha Smith, Fantasia and Melanie Fiona  just to name a few.  In reviewing his work you can see the talent.  He gives you preciscion, artful play, great editorial edge it was impossible to resist taking him to join our team.

“I love what I do.  The ability to create and transform ones hand with paint is amazing.”  The weapons in this artist case range from nippers, files, buffers, pushers, nail tips, nail lacquers of some of his favorite brands he loves range of course from Orly, OPI, Chanel, Dior, YSL and now m2m damorejon.

What made Terrence Terry accept our invitation to become a m2m damoreJon expert? In his own word, ” I love your work, love the polish and I am ready to take my career to a different direction.  I want to explore other avenues of the nail industry.  I am ready to travel, I want to experience fashion week,  brand myself in another market.  My passion is nails, I dreamed of this.  I am ready to live it.”

We are so honored to have a fellow artist who loves the game  like we do.  From the streets of Atlanta which are paved in glitter, diamond studs, colors art work and Minx we bring you the ever so talented Terrence Terry.  His home base ATL, The Purple Door Salon and Spa, 321 Edgewood Avenue, Downtown by appointment only I might add.  If you can catch him!  But if you are lucky enough to be serviced by Terry you will have the best experience you can imagine, wine and chocolates as your welcoming call, then your service begins with a cocoa-scented milk bath, edible Iwi Fresh hand scrub, and a Ghirardelli stash are among the tricks up his signature treatment sleeve.

Brand Development

December 10, 2009 at 12:42 am (1, Beauty, Fashion, Spas, Travel, Fashion, Beauty, Gift and Spas)

Developing a brand is far more difficult than I can every have imagined.   But I telling we are enjoying every moment of it.  From selecting the colors to choosing the bottles and most definitely naming the colors. Finding inspiration is the most easy of all our task.  The people we work with and get to enjoy are our inspiration.  This past week we have found ourselves in the most amazing of situation to enjoy the career path that we love and work at so hard. We had the pleasure this past couple of months working with the legendary Marc Baptiste on Latina Magazine, Shape Magazine, and had the honor of providing gift bags for him for Art Basel.  His work has graced the pages of some of the worlds leading fashion magazine and to have the privilege of being part of his team has proved to be one of the best rewards money can never buy. Our week continues as we work with new legends, Daisy Fuentes, Rihanna and great publications such as Vogue Japan, Vogue China and Paper Magazine.   We are now featured in Essence Magazine once again for the January Issue “Who’s Got Next”.  Thank you Essence, thank you fans, thank you new clients for your continued support.
